Music has taken J.R. Agia to many corners of the globe and from coast to coast in the United States. A self-taught guitarist, J.R. was fascinated with how easily music could open up whole new worlds of creativity and inspiration. He promptly learned as much as he could from every musician that he knew growing up in his hometown of Tampa, Florida, and set out on his musical journey.
His introduction into the realm of Film and Television occurred while he worked for the renowned graphic designer, Kyle Cooper. At Kyle's studio, Prologue, in Malibu, CA. J.R. saw the creative process up close and how important each aspect of a film truly was. In this case, the main titles of a film and how they set up the mood before any words were spoken- Just like a great intro could do for a song. He has also worked with Heitor Periera, the composer for the "Despicable Me" movies, as an assistant in Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Studios, as well as performing numerous live shows with 100 Monkeys, which was "Twilight" alum Jackson Rathbone's band. J.R. was also co-founder of the production group, "The Jugernox" with the talented Jerry "J-Strong" Armstrong and Scott "The Scientist" Coslett.
He has produced Hip-Hop and R&B tracks for many different artists across the country as well as trying his hand at Flamenco music, which he studied while living in Granada, Spain. More recently, he was co-founder of Suthurn Swaggur, a southern rock band based out of Nashville,TN. He co-wrote numerous original songs with singer and lyricist Joey Dawson, and performed them all over Tennessee and Florida. In 2019, he co-founded Echo N Dream, an eclectic band of seasoned musicians and singers, including Prince Yama and up-and-coming Miami artist, Purple Gorilla. At the moment, he is also breaking into the Film, TV, and Video Game soundtrack world with his unique, and wide ranging style and continues to be amazed at the limitless potential of music.
